Woodstock (2002)

Encouraging the creation of new work across cultural and national bounderies is the aim of an innovative exhibition of work by 16 contemporary German artists now showing in the gardens of the Oxfordshire Museum, Woodstock.
The aim of the artists, who began their project in Karlsruhe in May 1988, is to publicy display art using the billboard advertising style to make it visible outside established institutions such as galleries.
The pieces on show are selected from collections of works exhibited over 7 years. They come to Woodstock following successful showings in venues across Europe The ancient brick walls and extensive lawns of the museum gardens provide a tranquil backdrop for this art on a grand scale: the pieces on show in the museum garden are each approximately 260X360cm.
Further billboards from the collection can also be viewed in the more extensive surroundings of Oxford's South Park.
